Hey all. Holy crap a new update! I really should actually be doing work (as usual) but I thought I’d write a quick update to say I MADE A NEW WEBSITE!!! And you should totally check it out. It’s at greatscottgrads.com.au and I actually made it for my graduating year, just for promoting events and each person’s work in general. Long story short, the website really should have been up a long, long time ago (as in, months) however things came up as they do. Organising things with a big group of people is really hard in case you were wondering. And if you have no idea what I’m on about, Great Scott! is pretty much the brand for our entire graduating year group. We have a facebook page, you should check that out too. Oh I also created the logo as well, and I’m actually really happy with how it came out!
I’m in my last few weeks of study and pretty soon, I’ll have completed my three years of graphic design education. It’s a pretty big achievement for me because it’s something I’ve worked really hard towards and invested a lot of time and energy and tea into. I just can’t believe three years went by just like that – I still remember classes from cert IV and while they were fun I also cringe at the fact that I used to think my designs from back then were actually good. So kudos to the teachers for not saying ‘wow that’s so awful what are you even thinking’ like I know they probably want to all the time. Not that that still wouldn’t happen but…you’d hope it would happen less often now?
I’ve also pretty much completed all my ISTD work (remember that book I was on about?)
Wow does it feel good to have one less thing to worry about. Well, I still need to finish off a few things before sending it off tomorrow (eek)…like take better photos. But for the most part it’s pretty much done. And I’m SO HAPPY with how it turned out. It turned out way better than I expected, and I’m really glad I didn’t wiro bind it like I initially was, because it looks so amazing with the hand stitching It’s going to be properly assessed next week, but honestly I’m not really that fussed about whether I pass or not because the entire project was a really big achievement for me, and I 100% stand by my design choices. It’s for an issue I really care about (the sixth mass extinction, read here) too and it’s just overall something I would actually buy if I saw it on a shelf.
If you want to see it in person (please do!) check out my grad show which is coming up in the next few weeks.
In the meantime I’ll be busy trying to rebrand myself (again….SIGH) and also finishing my folio (about time) and starting to draw more digital stuff again. I really miss doing digital art, but I have a couple of things planned when I have more free time,so stay tuned.
