Would it surprise you to know I haven’t actually completed an illustration for over two months now….crazy right.

It’s not really because I haven’t been inspired to draw anything. It’s just that the last few weeks of college are so busy I haven’t had much time to do much else just for fun. Design-wise, all my creative energy is being used for end of year projects, including an entire frickin BOOK which I’m writing AND illustrating in the space of around a month. I haven’t even started on my folio or business cards yet because this is just taking so much time. It’s crazyness and I wish we had more time to do this (like a whole year would be a nice) but as it is, it’s stressful having to research a topic, write about it and make sure it’s factual, then design a layout and create graphics to go with it. This book is for ISTD, which is a special typography club based in the UK. Of course I’d like to pass (our design is basically centred around a few briefs which will be used to be consider us as a member) and do well, but to be completely honest typography design isn’t really my strongest skill. I know it should be because typography is essential to every design project. It’s such a new topic to me though that I easily overlook many things…so….this project will be interesting I think. As long as my project turns out somewhat decent and has a good message I’m hoping it will turn out ok.

In other more exciting news, I finished my zine! Pics below, more at my behance page.

So that’s that, I’m also selling copies if you’re interested here. :) Let me know what you think and so forth too. It’ll be at my grad show end of year so if you’re in Perth you may be able to check it out then too as the exhibition will be on for a few days to the public.

I also created a design for a packaging unit last term, which was for flour. It was for the Southern Cross Packaging Awards 2015. And I won a Commendation for it! I’m pretty happy with that to be honest. :) But I do have to thank Abbott & Co for generously sponsoring the printing of it and ensuring it looked as good as possible. You can see more pics at my behance page.

I should probably start working on my folio now…this was just procrastination, haha. Sorry for the lack of updates, I hope there’ll be more in the near future! At the very least I’ll definitely be taking photos of my ISTD project so keep an eye out for that. Sidenote: it’s going to be an activity book on extinction.
