Sanguine; originally meaning bloody, now also a word used to describe having an optimistic outlook on things.
I love the contrast in the word’s meaning, and the association of blood red to confidence and cheerfulness. Doesn’t that seem kind of dichotomous somehow?
I sketched out a concept a few months ago, and it started completely different (as you can see) so that was fun figuring out my original concept.
I often have to reinterpret a lot of my sketches because I leave a lot of thoughts really rough and half concepted to brew for a bit before starting the final version. In this case, it took me a while to get into a zone again, but I am pretty happy with the final product. It’s a reflection of my personal growth and it was also a way for me to experiment with orange (I hardly ever use the colour).
