Color Overlay // a simple image colorizer for Figma

One of the things that I was missing most from Figma was the ability to colorize a JPG/PNG image directly in the program. I basically wanted what color overlay does in Photoshop, in Figma.

This plugin arose from that need, because can anyone relate to the minutes wasted waiting for Photoshop to open simply so you can apply an overlay to an image and save it out? Ain’t nobody got time for that.

One thing I also added to this plugin was the ability to remove a color from an image as well. This effectively allows users to create transparent pngs on the fly, on top of colorizing them.

Of course this really only works well with images that contain solid fills and colours, such as brand logos, but then again Figma isn’t exactly a robust image editor either nor is it intended to fulfil that purpose.

Overall I’m really happy with how this plugin turned out and how easy it is to use. It has saved me so much time personally, and I hope it helped you in your work to!
