I designed and built the website for a local cleaning company for private and commercial properties. The goal was to make it as easy and user-friendly as possible, and make it easy to book a service or enquire.

My Process
Brand Development
Working from a logo concept the client supplied, I refined the logo and developed the brand palette and typography. The direction was clean, modern, and masculine, leaning into the bold yellow and charcoal contrast combined with clean geometric shapes that flow together.
Research
I researched various competitors to see what works for other businesses. In particular, I looked at the user flow for bookings and enquiries.
Design and Build
I usually start a design with the home page to gauge the kind of repeatable patterns, functionality, and imagery that is needed. Once the home page is established, I’ll go on to design any other inner pages as required.
Using the basic visual foundation I developed around the logo, I built out a digital style library to create components and block layouts for the website.
Reusable Components
I designed desktop and mobile components to make it easy to iterate the design if the client requires any further changes (which happens often). Figma makes it really easy to collaborate with people quickly, receive comments, and action feedback.
Website Build
Building a website is undoubtedly the most time consuming part of any web project, as it requires a lot of finessing and collaboration with the client to get everything just right.
I used WordPress for this project and whenever I use it, I try to make the theme as barebones as possible to allow for further development and extensibility. I used ACF and Gravity Forms to create the custom booking form and services table to make the website robust and easy to update by non-technical people.
